Alan Kurdi Photographer: Nilüfer Demir 2015 Loss of Innocence. Although the image is displayed in color, I simply do not view it in that sense. The reality of the world, reality of the desperate measures some must proceed to live in simple peace. This little boy and his family were fleeing from the ongoing war in Syria, seeking refuge simply for a better life. The waves seemed to carefully have placed this little boy on shore, as his poor little body lays still. “There was nothing left to do for him. There was nothing left to bring him back to life,”. So Demir raised her camera. "I thought, this is the only way I can express the scream of his silent body." Every time I see this photo, its like if I were seeing it for the first time.
